My accountant asked for five files…

By the time I opened Gmail, the reply was written and all five files were attached.

All I did was read it and press send. That’s Emailmagic — a small app that sits on my Mac and gets through my inbox before I do.

Hi Priya,

All five are attached — the July and August bank statements, the Q1 invoice register, the payroll summary and the lease. Let me know if anything’s missing.

It went and found the files on its own — I’d never told it where anything was.

What does it do?

It reads what comes in and works out whether I need to see it. Usually I don’t — newsletters, receipts, alerts, someone selling me something. Those get labelled and moved out of my inbox. Nothing is deleted.

For the ones that need an answer, it writes the reply and leaves it as a draft in Gmail, with any files attached. Then it stops. It has never sent an email for me, and it can’t.

Why I made it

I run a few companies, and every problem any of them has turns up in my inbox.

I’ve tried several of the AI email apps over the past couple of years. None of them were much good. The filtering buried things that mattered, the drafts read like a robot being polite so I rewrote every one, and not one of them would go and fetch a file. They all wanted a copy of my email on their servers, too, and thirty dollars a month for a model I was already paying OpenAI for.

So I built my own. It runs on my Mac, signs into my ChatGPT account and talks to Gmail through the connector.

Be one of the first hundred people to use it

After the beta it becomes a paid app. The hundred keep it free, permanently. For now it needs a Mac, Gmail and a ChatGPT subscription — if that isn’t you, say so below.

What computer do you use?
Which email do you use?
Which AI do you pay for?

Tick as many as apply.

No card, nothing to pay, now or later. I read every one of these myself.
