Privacy Policy
The short version
Emailmagic runs on your Mac. Your email goes to Gmail and to ChatGPT — the same places it goes today — and never to us. We hold what you type into the beta form, and later, if you subscribe, your billing details. We never see or store your card number.
What this website collects
If you request beta access, we store your email address and your three answers: which computer, email service and AI subscription you use. We use them to send you the app and to decide what to build next.
We use no analytics and no tracking cookies. This site sets no cookies at all, and we do not build a profile of you from your visit.
If and when you pay us
Emailmagic is free during the beta. When paid plans start, subscribing will mean giving us what we need to bill you: your name, your billing address, your email address, and your country for tax purposes. We keep those.
Your card details are different. They go straight to our payment provider, Stripe, which is PCI-DSS certified to handle them. We never see your full card number and we never store it. What comes back to us is the last four digits, the card type and the expiry date, so you can tell which card is on file.
We keep invoices and payment records for as long as tax and accounting law requires — generally seven years — even after you close your account.
Emails we send you
When you request beta access we email you a confirmation, and later your invite and instructions. Those are part of the thing you asked for, so we send them either way.
Marketing email is separate and opt-in. The signup form has a tick box, unticked by default, and we only add you to our mailing list if you tick it. We record what the tick box said and when you ticked it, so there is a record of what you agreed to.
Our mailing list is held with Resend, who send the emails on our behalf. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing is immediate and permanent unless you ask to come back. We will only ever email you about Emailmagic — we do not send anyone else’s marketing, and we do not sell or rent the list.
What the app collects
The Emailmagic app does not send your email, your drafts or the contents of your inbox to us. It runs on your computer and talks directly to ChatGPT and to Gmail using your own accounts.
It sends us no crash reports, no error logs and no usage statistics. If we ever add anything of that kind, it will be optional, we will ask you first, and we will say so here before it ships.
Where your email goes
To read and write email, Emailmagic uses your ChatGPT subscription (provided by OpenAI) and your Gmail account (provided by Google). Their privacy policies govern how they handle your email: OpenAI privacy policy · Google privacy policy.
Nothing changes about what those companies can already see. Your email already passes through Gmail, and you already use ChatGPT. Emailmagic connects the two on your behalf, on your own computer.
What we never do
- Sell or share your personal information.
- Store your email, your drafts or your attachments.
- Store your card number.
- Send you marketing email you did not ask for, or pass your address to anyone else’s.
- Train any model on your data. We don’t have it.
Your choices
You can leave the beta list at any time. Email hello@emailmagic.app and we will delete your entry within 30 days. Deleting the app from your Mac removes everything it kept locally. If you have paid us, we will delete your account details too — but we have to keep invoices and payment records for as long as tax law requires.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. For anything material, we will email beta testers directly.
